Is LG really skipping Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update in favor of Marshmallow? At least this has been the reports in the rumor mill until now but the South Korean tech giant has not officially put closure on this news. However, as most LG smartphones and phablets are mostly running pre-5.1.1 Lollipop OS, the possibility of 5.1.1 is still underway.

Reports are still firm that LG is rolling out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update to its G4, G3 and G2 devices even if Marshmallow is coming out in public by September. The exact date however has not been confirmed but most reports point out before the year ends these devices will get a taste of what the final Lollipop update has to offer.

Why should LG have to update their devices with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop then and not proceed to 6.0? A previous report shows that 5.1.1 Lollipop is the answer to LG's software problem and errors.

The latest flagship device of LG, G4, was reported to manifest a host of bugs affecting the touchscreen, scrolls, music, keyboard, battery, Wi-Fi and some other important elements. Other problems reported are in photo rotation, photo editing, delayed screen tap's response, volume shortcuts, Google Play, delayed launcher, heat, charging and the list goes on.

As seen on other devices, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop's changelog shows enhancements on apps menu, better alarm clock, S Finder and Quick Connect removable from status bar and battery optimization.

LG was previously reported it has plans yet to proceed to the Marshmallow update this fall. What is certain for now is, developer preview shows exciting new features of the Android 6.0.

G4 and G2 currently runs the 5.1 Lollipop while G3 is still stuck with the 5.0.2 version. With G3's case, it is also possible it would have to cross paths with 5.1. When G2 was updated to 5.1, a photo leaked that 5.1.1 update is "in progress." This update might come with features like Bluetooth button to the dial-pad screen, notification scan, and priority mode for SMS and events.
