Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is finally rolling out over-the-air to Samsung smartphones and phablets including Galaxy S5, Note 4, and Note Edge bringing with it the long-term solution for notorious Stagefright vulnerability issue.

Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge are only a few pioneering recipients of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

As reported earlier, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and Sprint versions of Samsung Galaxy S5 units in the US and Canada were first treated with Lollipop's latest and yet final update. T-Mobile meanwhile is the first carrier in the Northern American region to release the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to Galaxy Note 4, and Note Edge devices while other networks are still one the verge of releasing it.

Android 5.1.1 Lollipop's sweet surprise-the solution to the Stagefright vulnerability issue has been well-received by Android-powered users across the board. Stagefright is a potential exploit that dwells within the Android operating system.

The vulnerability attacks by sending a video message which becomes an avenue of potential threat. Google's Hangouts app specifically was pointed out the problem came from while other messaging apps like Whatsapp is also a potential virus hub.

These apps automatically process the video message. When ready for viewing, the bug will attack through the video message without the user knowing it.

The fix was first released with 5.1.1 Lollipop since last week of July to select carriers, brands and regions.

When notified that the user's device is ready for a Lollipop update, tap the 'install" option and follow onscreen instructions. To manually check if the update is available, go to Settings > About phone > Software update > Check for update.

Aside from the notable bug fix, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop also brings in system enhancements, stability optimization, and battery life improvements.

Other Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets which are getting the most out of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop are Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy Tab 10.1, and Galaxy S4. According to reports however Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are not yet getting the Stagefright fix as of now but should be coming very soon.
