'Aliens 5' Update: Neill Blomkamp Not To Overlap With 'Prometheus 2'

Director Neill Blomkamp of "Aliens 5" is cautious of not overlapping the ideas and details with "Prometheus 2."

Director Neill Blomkamp is being careful not to overlap ideas and details of "Alien 5" with "Prometheus 2" which falls in the same genre with similarities in their storylines. In addition, fans want to see a more grounded portrayal of the Marines who have changed significantly in personality and attitude throughout the series. Supporters are also eager to lookout for the reappearance of Sigourney Weaver who is said to play to her role as Ellen Ripley to battle once again with Xenomorph, Master Herald reported.

Blomkamp is highly acclaimed for his works on "District 9," "Elysium" and "Chappie." His works on such science-fiction films have endowed the director with great expectations from the fans to give the film a unique yet familiar touch.

Blomkamp's "Alien 5" gave fans of the franchise some hope that it will do justice to the first to movies. As for the rest of the sequel, others were not so kind in their opinions. According to Movie Pilot, the films succeeding "Aliens" by James Cameron have spoiled the reputation of the franchise. The report called David Fincher's "Alien 3" divisive, "Alien: Resurrection" as unenthusiastic and "Prometheus" as poorly-written.

The "Alien" series took off in the year 1979 with Ridley Scott pioneering and considered as the masterpiece of all. It is one of the films that had set a benchmark of creativity and spectacular imagination of all.

The movie sprung three more sequels with James Cameron's "Aliens" considered as the last of the franchise to garner fans and critics' approval. Director Neill Blomkamp is now on the spotlight with "Alien 5" being the most talked about. Fans presume this sequel will make a connection to its first two sequels. What was divulged further was that "Alien 5" will be set within the timeline of "Alien" and "Aliens."

So far, only Sigourney Weaver and Micheal Beihn are said to be on board with the movie. Weaver will once again battle Xenomorphs in "Alien 5," which is set for release sometime in 2016.
