More concrete information for where the "NCIS" season 13 will take off was revealed just recently. Leroy Gibbs will live and meet a possible companion while on his way to recovery. DiNozzo on the other hand will take the lead in going after The Calling in China.

It took Mark Harmon a while before he confirmed his return to the CBS police procedural. There were speculations that the actor will leave the show after the events during last season's finale, where his character, Leroy Gibbs was shot in a marketplace in Iraq.

The announcement of Gibb's return sparked celebration among the "NCIS" fans and following the confirmation is the official synopsis of season 13 from CBS, TVLine reported.

The synopsis revealed that Gibbs will fight for his survival while aboard a Navy hospital ship while Michael Weatherly's Tony DiNozzo goes to China to come after The Calling. He will be joined by CIA Officer Joanna Teague, played by Mimi Rogers.

DiNozzo's mission to China is good news for the fans of Weatherly's character who have been clamoring longer airtime for Tony. While most fans of the series were worried after Gibbs got shot in the season 12 finale, some were already settled about his possible exit in the show to give way for other characters, specifically DiNozzo, to be developed.

Jon Cryer is also set to guest star in the police procedural as Dr. Taft, who will help Gibbs recover from the Iraq incident. Cryer described his character as the Jeff Goldblum of naval surgeon that likes to joke a lot even while conducting operation, Master Herald reported.

Dr. Taft will appear in the first three episodes of the CBS hit series and throughout those episodes, he will try to nurture his relationship with Gibbs, Cryer said. The actor also admitted acting alongside the "NCIS" veterans has been his long-time dream.

"NCIS" season 13 is set to take viewers to China as Tony DiNozzo goes after The Calling while Leroy Gibbs recovers from his injuries. The hit police procedural returns to CBS on September 22.
