John Noble's attachment to "Elementary" season 4 as Sherlock's father will cause many problems according to the showrunners. Since Jonny Lee Miller's character is in a really bad shape when season 3 ended, fans are wondering how his father can help him recover and if Joan will also lend her hand in the process.

Noble's inclusion in the CBS hit series caused celebration among the fans especially since the actor himself already has a solid television fan base for his previous roles, with his character in "Fringe" as the most notable one.

The news that he will play the role of Sherlock's father however came a bit of a surprise because Carter Matt noted that he just finished his turn in "Sleepy Hollow" and no one thought that he will return to the small screen so soon.

Executive producer Rob Doherty hinted via Entertainment Weekly, which has an exclusive first look of John Noble as Daddy Holmes, that his return to Sherlock's life will spark problems in the show.

"Once he arrives, Sherlock does not appreciate the attention or the distraction that his dad represents," Doherty said. "...for him, it's too little too late. This is a father and a son with a very complicated history."

He added, "This is going to be a big adjustment for Sherlock to have dad nearby."

There is also that question about what Joan Watson's role in Sherlock's way to sobriety. Fans are asking whether Watson, played by Lucy Liu will take the responsibility as Sherlock's sober companion.

As fans of the series all know, Miller's character revisited his dark past during last season's finale. He had a relapsed after he was forced to work with Oscar, played by Michael Weston, his former drug dealer.

Doherty told TVLine that Joan will be there to support Sherlock and will look out for him as a friend but "by no means she will be taking on additional responsibilities" in "Elementary" season 3.

"Elementary" season 4 is already preparing for the premiere of the season that will see John Noble as Sherlock's father. His character will bring additional difficulties in the atmosphere as the series returns this November on CBS.
