Mortal Kombat X Update: Story Pack hinted by Game Director; 1st Horror DLC out next week with free must-have items

Three weeks after the official release of Mortal Kombat X, the first DLC to be released on May 5 will introduce Jason Voorhees from the horror movie Friday the 13th.

The first of the four downloadable game expansion packs called the Horror Pack was first announced by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment last Friday the 13th of March, Polygon reported. 

Gamers are excited to see more from Mortal Kombat X since NetherRealm Studios announced that the May 5 DLC will only be the first of four DLC installments for Mortal Kombat X throughout the year.

In addition to the Jason Voorhees character, the Horror Pack will also include skins of other characters that are already in the games such as Ermac, Mileena, and Reptile.

Below are the DLCs for Mortal Kombat X which will be released in installment throughout the year. GameRant gives full details of these DLCs including a short trailer showing the character of the Friday the 13th Jason Voorhees.

  • 1. The Ultimate Horror Pack
  • Playable character Jason Voorhes
  • Horror skins Vampiress Mileena, Kraken Reptile and Pharaoh Ermac
  • 2. The Klassic Pack 1
  • Playable character Tanya
  • Klassic skins for Kano, Sonya and Liu Kang
  • 3. The Predator / Prey Pack:
  • Playable character Predator
  • Predator-themed skins Commando Johnny, Infrared Scorpion and Carl Weathers as Jax
  • 4. The Klassic Pack 2:
  • Playable character, Tremor
  • Klassic skins for Quan Chi, Jax and Kung Lao

Meanwhile, an exciting rumor propagates online about another DLC that might be in the works hinted by game director Ed Boon himself via Twitter.  

"@LazyEyedJ @noobde So Ed are you secretly gonna patch in the NPC's from story to make them playable? EB: U mean like a "Story Pack"?

There are several character favorites such as Frost, Rain, Smoke and Kabal among others were not included in the playable roster and fans would just be delighted to have what Boon refers to as the Story Pack.   

The Patch 1.02 was released prior to the upcoming DLC that addresses some bugs and contains tweaks to various characters move sets of Shinnok, Sub-Zero, Takeda Sr., and Takeda Jr.

Mortal Kombat X was released on April 14 for PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC. Last month, an update from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment revealed that versions for PS3 and Xbox 360 will be delayed to this summer.
