Sony had set its goal to innovate the console market. Over the years, Sony had shared the top spot with Microsoft in terms of console production. However, this does not mean that Sony had its PlayStation stagnant. Sony had been keeping each year busy with its production of outstanding consoles and upgrades.

The successful release of the PS4 was followed by a rumor regarding a slimmer version of the said console. Many PS4 slim leaks had circulated in the media and basing on the reviews and specs, the upcoming PS4 Slim is a console to watch out for.

However, a huge buzz is also being generated courtesy of PlayStation 5 or PS5. The PlayStation 5 is rumored to be released on 2020, however, given the fast-paced technological advances, it will be safe to say to expect a 2018 release.

According to Rob Thubron (What's Culture), the new generation consoles of Sony, or its PlayStation 5,  will not only feature improvements in graphics but a unique design that has never been seen before.

The PlayStation 5 is expected to be the most high tech console there is. It is presumed to be portable, wireless, and battery-enabled.  The PlayStation 5 may be expected to be very portable that one could even hand carry the console with ease. It may be even likened to the size of a phablet. Think Samsung Note.

Aside from these feats, users may expect a gestural interface. No longer will users need to push buttons because a quick wave or hand gesture would be enough to manipulate the menu. Sounds very futuristic. The PlayStation 5 would even get more futuristic since it would be partnered with a Virtual Reality Headset. Sony console fanatics would enjoy a stepping-into-the-game experience.

When it comes to the games, Game Makers will most likely be restricting their games to downloadable only. This would mean that the market on physical copies of the game would be strongly affected. However, for the gamers, this would be a good news since the production expenses will be lessened, prices for the games would certainly become lower.

According to PC Advisor, it can be assumed that Sony will put a £400 price on the PlayStation 5.

Yet, all of these are still rumors and Sony hadn't confirmed any of these. But if all of these would be pushed through, PlayStation 5 is definitely to revolutionize the console market.
