'God of War 4', Sony's newest entry to God of War franchise, is underway and definitely coming out on a release date slated sometime in 2016 or 2017.

This latest news has been officially confirmed during the PlayStation Experience event at Las Vegas by Sony Sta. Monica Studio Creative Director Cory Barlog.

Rumors have it that God of War 4 gameplay might put an end to Kratos who will lose to Thor in the final battle while some propose that the game's story would no longer be about Kratos, instead, his character will turn into a villainous non-playable antagonist who would be too difficult to defeat.

According to some news outlets, this new addition to the series will certainly not be a prequel but a reboot. The God of War 4 release is claimed to feature new gods and demons, more gore and bloodshed giving the fans a whole new level of a mind blowing game experience.

On the lighter side, there's this trivia that fans would not have even known about. God of War and Spongebob share one thing in common.  Clarence J Brown III voiced the character of Hades who also happens to be the voice actor for Nick's popular animated show's Mr. Krabs.

In related story, God of War: Ascension will come out soon to PS4 according to reports. A remastered 1080p native version of the latest game will be made available for digital download on PlayStation Store.

Back in March, it was reported God of War 3 director Stig Asmussen resigned from the company and was no longer involved in the production of Ascension.

God of War 4 release date expected to arrive within the next two years seems to be far too long but Sony working hard on this title might actually be worth the wait.
