Voting now open for MAMA 2014; Taeyang, EXO, and Ailee dominating award categories

Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) 2014, one of the most awaited events of K-pop fans around the world, will unfold in December 3. But a little over a moth ahead of the event, voting has already started.

Fans have been waiting for the start of voting and since it was opened, some K-pop artists have been receiving impressive votes from fans around the world, KpopStars reports.

Here are some of the current rankings for the major award categories.

Big Bang's Taeyang, who made news this year with his album "Rise" and hit song "Eyes, Nose, Lips" is currently taking the lead in two award categories. The singer has been receiving majority of the votes for two categories: Best Male Artist (48%) and Best Vocal Performance Male (48%).

For the Best Female Artist, Ailee remains strong on the top spot with 33.6%. The American-bred Korean diva is also leading the poll on Best Dance Performance Solo with 30.2%.

Meanwhile, in the category Best New Artist, JYP's rookie group GOT7 is on the lead with 35.6%. YG's WINNER is a close second with 33.7%.

SM Entertainment's Super Junior and YG Entertainment's 2NE1 have almost the same percentages in the categories Best Male Group (30.3%) and Best Female Group (31%), respectively. Coming second to Super Junior is fellow SM artist EXO with 29.9% while SM artist Girls' Generation has 23.4%, second to 2NE1.

For the Best Dance Performance Male Group category, megagroup EXO's "Overdose" is on the lead with 33% followed by INFINITE's "Last Romeo" with 20.8%. For the female category, Sistar currently has 26.2% of votes for their "Touch My Body" and is followed by missA's "Hush" with 25.7%.

For the Best Music Video category, JYP Entertainment's 2PM's "Go Crazy" received 31.9% of votes while Girls' Generation's sub-unit TaeTiSeo's "Holler" had 24.1%.

EXO, who has been through a number of controversies this year, remains strong despite the departure of two of its member. The group is also leading in the votes for Union Pay Artist of the Year and Union Pay Song of the Year.
