Bandpage has closed $8.5 million in funding from Mohr Davidow Partners, Robert Kavner, GGV Capital, Walden Venture Capital, and other music tech investors. This funding is aimed at developing its community building platform, according to VentureBeat.

The startup helps bands and individual artists create websites to help them manage their tour dates, locations, photos, fan base building, and online fan interaction. The latter was made possible with a partnership with Glam Media's Ning last year, the report explained.

BandPage was established in 2009 and is currently based in San Francisco, US. To date, the startup has raised a total capital of $26.8 million from its investors, the report detailed.

The California-based startup wants to create a better way for musicians to interact with their fans and the music industry. At present, its platform is being used by more than 500,000 musicians including local bands and popular singers like Jimi Hendrix and Rihanna, according to Crunchbase.
