France online music startup Deezer is considering a commercial and industrial deal with South Korea-based electronics giant Samsung Electronics, according to a French weekly. The paper also said Samsung might take a stake in Deezer, wrote The Times of India.

In addition, Le Journal du Dimanche also published a report saying French video-sharing site Dailymotion is in talks with software firm Microsoft about a stake sale. Dailymotion is owned by France-based telecom operator Orange, the report detailed.

Private company Deezer is among the biggest rivals of Swedish online music community Spotify, which closed $250 million late last year from private investors. Deezer was formed in 2006, the report stated.

According to Orange chief Stephane Richard, Dailymotion was close to inking a US partnership. Richard also said the company was working on another deal with an Asian firm to help it compete with YouTube, the report explained.

Richard did not name the companies involved in the said partnerships. However, he said the US firm in question is a big player in the digital arena. He also described the Asian company as a "significant regional operator," The Times of India reported.
