Espresso Logic announced earlier today that it had raised a total of USD1.6 million in seed funding from hedge fund firm Inventus Capital together with other major Silicon Valley angel investors. The funding would be utilized the launch of the industry's first database backend utiliizing reactive logic programming as a service.

Espresso can deliver an instant RESTful server for developers in order to connect web and mobile applications for external databases such as MySQL, Oracle Server and Microsoft SQL Server. Many developers in the enterprise level use Espresso to manage access to database rows and columns through individual roles without downloading or configuration.

According to Espresso Logic CEO R. Paul Singh, "API management is gaining momentum, but until now creating APIs has been a complex process. Espresso provides a system that enables developers to create APIs from existing databases along with business logic and declarative security at an unbelievably fast rate. Because our technology is based on standards such as REST, JSON and JavaScript, it's ideally suited for mobile developers looking to shorten the development time of their business applications."
