Espresso Logic received USD1.6 million in a seed funding round led by Inventus Capital. Gokul Rajaram, one of the Google AdSense creators, was one of the angel investors who participated in this round. This was according to a report published by TechCrunch on its website.

Espresso Logic would be using the new fund to develop mobile APIs that link web and mobile apps to external databases such as Oracle Server, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL, said the report.

In a phone interview, CEO Paul Singh explained that reactive programming is somewhat similar to the concept of a spreadsheet. Espresso Logic allows the user to input some changes in the spreadshit without rewriting the whole document. The formula would automatically arrange the data according to the changes made, the report explained.

Espresso Logic reportedly aimed to lessen the gap between the database manager and the API developer. The company seeks to accelerate that step and will use reactive programming to achieve that goal, the TechCrunch report said.
