McDonald's and Kraft to sell McCafe in US groceries in 2014

McDonald's Corp and Kraft Foods Group Inc agreed to sell packages of McCafe-branded coffees at retail locations and grocery stores across the US in 2014. This is to test grocery coffee sales in the US. Tests will include packs of ground coffee and whole bean.

The CEO of Kraft Foods, Tony Vernon talked about the test where he stated, "We want to work with McDonald's to help consumers enjoy McCafe premium coffee in the comfort and convenience of their own homes."

Kraft will handle distribution and marketing of the McCafe-branded coffee. With regards to the test sales, McDonald's released their statement that said, "building on the momentum of our McCafe beverages in our restaurants by expanding these options."

The introduction of McCafe beverages led to the boost in McDonald's sales of which included espresso drinks popularized by Starbucks Corporation.

McDonald's sales for packaged coffee started last year in Canadian restaurants. On the other hand, Kraft begun the grocery coffee business back in 2011.
