Rumors were rife about the unveiling of Google's Nexus 5 on Tuesday. However, Google had not yet revealed its new-generation smartphone on the expected date. Fresh speculations rose about the release, according to a report from technology website CNet. One rumor was that Google would not only introduce the Nexus 5, but a Long Term Evolution or LTE-powered Nexus 4 as well. LTE refers to wireless broadband technology for mobile phones. Citing a Romanion blog, the CNet report said Nexus 5 would be launched with a price tag of USD 399 for a 16GB capacity and USD 449 for 32GB. Meanwhile, the LTE Nexus 4 would be priced at USD 299 for 16GB and USD 349 for 32 GB.

Another rumor was that the Nexus 5 launch was delayed by the government shutdown. Massive furloughs at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and other agencies may have delayed the certification for the smartphone, the report said.

Google had not released official sales figures for the Nexus 4. However, technology news website BGR reported estimates from the XDA Developers Forum in February indicating that Google may already have sold more than 1 million units. This was way more than the 375,000 Nexus 4 phones shipped in January this year.
