Facebook and Twitter comparisons need to be known

In any major move by a company, such as an IPO, there will be naysayers as well as skeptics and critics. Part of the filings made with the Securities and Exchange Commission is the identification of 'risk factors'  in their IPO disclosures. With Twitter coming to fore, its very own 'risk factors' listing was longer than the last IPO filing of this magnitude, Facebook.

Comparing the two social media giants, Facebook's risk factors section was 22 pages long. Twitter on the other hand, is 32 pages long.

There are those that are the same too. Twitter, as did Facebook, did not designate whether the listing would be done on the NYSE or the NASDAQ. With these differences and clear similarities, especially in terms of risk factors, this begs the question: Which between the two are riskier? Is Twitter riskier, because it had a longer list of risk factors, compared to what Facebook had?

Facebook's experience of its IPO was fraught with trading errors and even a technical glitch at the IPO itself. This was followed by a high dropoff of its share values post IPO. This though was reversed with the latest stock performance of Facebook.

To really know the results, let's wait and see as to how Twitter's IPO comes out, even with the risk factors.
