NY Knicks has new president for basketball operations

Steve Mills had completed his return to the NBA as the new President and General Manager of the New York Knickerbockers. He replaced Glen Grunwald in a management change right before the start of the league's training camp.

Mills had spent ten years as an executive at Madison Square Garden. Before that position. he worked at the NBA offices for 16 years. He quit Madison Square Garden after the Knicks appointed Donnie Walsh as its new President. 

Grunwald took the position of President when Walsh bolted for the Indiana Pacers. The current roster which helped the team win its first playoff series since 2000. The Knicks in a press release said that Grunwald would be retained with the organization as one of its advisers. 

According to a statement from Knicks owner James Dolan read, "I am pleased to be able to welcome Steve back to the Knicks. He is a well-respected sports executive with a strong background in basketbsll, as well as familiarity with NBA operations and our company. We look forward to his leadership and believe he is the right person to help us reach our ultimate goal of winning an NBA championship."

He also said, "We are grateful to Glen's many years of valuable service and pleased that he will remain with the organization."
