The release of one of the most eagerly-anticipated video game releases ever made its owner Rockstar Games really happy.

Grand Theft Auto 5 last week had earned the video game developer GBP500 million in under 24 hours, and over USD1 billion after two days. Eurogamer also reported that GT5 was the most sought-after video game last week, that nine of of ten video games sold in the United Kingdom were copies of the latest video game series.

GTA5 emerged as the biggest game so far, beating opening week figures of all GTA video game launches. GTA5 also beat its predecessor, GTA 4, by 2.4 times, that it had been lauded as UK's 24th bestselling game in the history.

GTA5 also beat Call of Duty: Black Ops, the previous recordholder, by 250,000 copies. Call of Duty: Black Ops sold 1.57 million units within 24 hours and 2.25 million units in total.

With a high Metacritic score of 98, GTA5 made Rockstar GBP65 million in revenue in UK sales alone.
