Today, Agilent Technologies Inc. had announced it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire ABC Instrumentación Analítica (ABCIA). The acquisition would include purchasing assets from ABCIA. ABCIA operates as a leading distributor of analytical solutions. It also includes operating as Agilent's chemical analysis and life science products.

The acquisition deal was expected to be completed by October 1. This would be subject to customary closing conditions. This was according to a Bloomberg report which also did not disclose the amount for the transaction. After the completion of the deal, ABCIA's former clients in Mexico could look forward to integration of sales and service portfolio from Agilent directly.

ABCIA was established in 1986. It had worked as the distributing partner Hewlett-Packard Company's analytic solutions division. In 1999, ABCIA had become a distributor at Agilent after HP spun off Agilent.

Sylvia Escobar, vice president in charge of field operations for Agilent's chemical analysis said, "Agilent and ABCIA have had a strong partnership for more than two decades. As a unified team, we will provide a better customer experience by streamlining processes and delivering top-tier service in a consistent way. This acquisition also supports Agilent's aim to expand in the growing Mexican analytical market."
