A US regulator said it is working with CBS Corp and Time Warner Cable Inc to end the impasse between both companies. Since August 2, Time Warner Cable has kept some programs of CBS Corp off the air after they failed to reach an agreement about fees.

In an email to Bloomberg, the US Federal Communications Commission through their spokesman Justin Cole said, "The commission is engaged at the highest levels with the respective parties and working to bring the impasse to an end." The regulator also urged both parties for a speedy resolution of the matter so "consumers can access the programming they rely on and are paying for." No other details were provided by the FCC.

It can be recalled that at an August 9 news conference, FCC Acting Chairwoman Mignon Clyburn said she was "really distressed" at the turn of events. She said she was also "ready to consider appropriate action" even as she admitted that the FCC does not have enough authority to intervene on the matter.
