Nasdaq OMX Group and NYSE Euronext were asked by US regulators to come up with a timeline. This was after Thursday's incident that caused a three hour trading disruption. Both rival exchange operators were unable to agree on the details. This was according to a source familiar with the matter.

It had been nearly a week after the trading disruption incident that caused all Nasdaq listed stock trading to be disrupted in US markets. According to sources, Nasdaq and NYSE had different understanding of what truly happened during the period before the disruption occurred. The companies were blaming each side for the outage.

On Tuesday, the US Securities and Exchange Commission scheduled a meeting with the companies on September 12 to address the glitch. SEC Chairperson Mary-Jo White and the heads of Nasdaq and NYSE would discuss the trading interruption. The meeting would also include discussions regarding Nasdaq-run system that was involved during the halt as well as other infrastructure issues and other market systems, the regulator said.
