Twitter Inc. had hired Nathan Hubbard who was also the former president of Ticketmaster. Hubbard was the first hired head of commerce in the company. Twitter had sought a push to enable shopping through short postings in the social media platform.

The 38 year old Hubbard started his post at Twitter this week. This was according to Jim Posner, a spokesperson for the online social media service. Hubbard would report to Adam Bain, the company's head of global revenue. Nathan Hubbard left Ticketmaster earlier this month in the middle of an overhaul of its online services.

Twitter had been seeking new profit sources as it prepares for a possible IPO. The online social media had planned to raise USD1 billion in its 2014 sales. Forrester Research Inc. had forecasted the social media platform to get a USD370 billion market in the US by 2017.

"We're going to go to people who have stuff to sell and help them use Twitter to sell it more effectively," Hubbard stated.
