One of the largest prizes for a Powerball lottery was won by a group of New Jersey employees. This group is one of the three lucky winning lottery tickets according to a report from USA Today.

The winners are sixteen workers from the Ocean County Vehicle Maintenance Department located in Toms River of New Jersey. The workers formed a pool to win the US$448 million jackpot sum. The community where the workers live is one of the hardest hit by Superstorm Sandy.

The workers purchased the winning combination of 5, 25, 30, 58 and the Powerball 32 at the Acme supermarket located in Little Egg Harbor. For the sale of the winning ticket, the outlet would be receiving US$30,000 in commission.

The biggest dilemma lottery winners have faced include how to keep their windfall to avoid the downfall of the previous winners. According to a research from the University of Kentucky, the University of Pittsburgh and Vanderbilt University, the winners face a greater chance of seeking bankruptcy protection in the future. Winners of more than US$150,000 would more likely to file for bankruptcy between three to five years after their win.
