J&D Brush has recalled around 357,000 Bio Ionic One-Inch Long Barrel Curling Irons in the US and another 3,000 in Canada after discovering they could pose a burn hazard.

The recall was issued because the curling iron's barrel can break or detach during use, which may lead to burns.

According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), as of October 23, 2025, there have been 258 reports of the barrel snapping off, including six cases of minor burn injuries.

According to USA Today, the affected model, Bio Ionic One-Inch Long Barrel Curling Iron (LXT-CL-1.0), was sold both in stores and online between July 2022 and December 2023.

The model number appears on the handle of the curling iron, while the date code can be seen engraved on the plug's metal prongs.

Each curling iron is about 15 ounces in weight and has dimensions close to 15.8 inches in length, 2.9 inches in height, and 1.6 inches in width.

The curling iron has a black handle and barrel, a blue "BIOIONIC" logo, and a black label with operating instructions.

"These curling irons pose a serious risk of burn injuries if the barrel detaches during use," the CPSC said in a statement.

The affected curling irons were available both in stores and online from August 2022 to July 2024, with a retail price of around $165, WBIR reported.

Retailers include Amazon, BioIonic.com, Salon Centric, Ulta, Sephora, Nordstrom, and various local salons and beauty supply stores nationwide.

Customers who purchased the recalled curling iron are advised to stop using it right away, disconnect it from power, and reach out to Bio Ionic to arrange a free replacement.

The company instructs customers to cut off the curling iron's plug and return it using a prepaid shipping label.

To request a replacement, customers can call Bio Ionic toll-free at 877-853-9627 between 10 am and 4 pm ET, Monday through Friday, or email longbarrelsupport@bbicompany.com.

More information, including instructions for returning the plug, is available on Bio Ionic's website under "Product Recalls." The official recall number is 26-046.

J&D Brush emphasized the importance of following the recall instructions to prevent injuries. "Consumers should immediately stop using the affected curling irons to avoid potential burns," the company said.
