Neuralink, Elon Musk's brain tech company, is setting bold goals for the future.

Neuralink has big plans for the future. According to documents viewed by Bloomberg, the company aims to implant its brain chips in 20,000 people a year by 2031.

If all goes according to plan, the company could earn over $1 billion in yearly revenue.

Right now, Neuralink is still in early testing stages. So far, fewer than 10 people have received Neuralink implants. But Musk's team expects big changes soon.

According to Reuters, Neuralink is aiming to get US approval for its first product — a brain chip called Telepathy — by 2029.

This device would let people control computers and other digital tools using only their thoughts.

Neuralink also plans to open five major clinics by 2030, where people can go to get the chip implant surgery done.

Neuralink also plans to offer two more brain chip models: Blindsight and Deep. Each version will focus on a different health issue.

Telepathy will help people with paralysis interact with devices.
Blindsight, set to launch in 2030, aims to restore vision for blind individuals.
Deep is designed to treat brain conditions like tremors and Parkinson's disease.

When Neuralink's Blindsight chip becomes available, the company hopes to perform around 10,000 surgeries each year — and bring in over $500 million in yearly revenue. The estimated cost for each procedure is around $50,000, Nairametrics said.

Neuralink has already raised $1.3 billion from investors and is valued at $9 billion, based on data from PitchBook.

Earlier this year, the company received a special "breakthrough" label from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its speech device. The FDA had also given that label to its vision-restoring tech in 2023.

After solving earlier safety concerns, Neuralink began its first human trials in 2024. Currently, five people with serious paralysis are using the chip to control things with their thoughts — from playing video games to editing videos.

Despite these early results, Neuralink still has a long road ahead. No brain-computer device has yet received full approval for permanent use in the US.

Still, Musk remains hopeful. During an investor call, he admitted things might get tough. "We probably could have a few rough quarters," he said.
