Earlybird Venture Capital closes US$200 million in funding

Berlin-based Earlybird Venture Capital posted the EUR 150 million (US$200 million) final closing of the company's fourth early stage fund earlier today. The proceeds garnered from the commitments rounded up the Earlybird's current total capital to EUR 650 million or US$800 million.

The firm shared that this new fund was oversubscribed due to the admission of a number of new investors on top of the institutional Limited Partners from the previous fund.

Earlybird Venture Capital, which was established in 1997 in Berlin, Germany, is an investment firm which has contributed to growth funds of around 100 companies including Versus.IO, Carpooling.com and EyeEm. The company has givene support to European businesses with global-scale goals and currently has 27 companies in its active portfolio including B2X Care, Traxpay, SocialBakers, Wunderlist and Auctionata.

The firm had already invested in 10 companies using the new fund in the last 12 months and expected to continue their momentum for 2014 and 2015.
