Mozilla released their offering for the mobile smartphone industry with the Firefox OS. Analysts think that it is impossible to gauge if consumers will readily accept this new open web system, but they definitely think the company was a little too late to join the party.

The company announced that only 17 mobile carriers across the globe will offer the Firefox OS as part of smartphones currently being distributed. Telecom companies which agreed with Mozilla included China Unicom, Qtel, America Movil, Deutsche Telekom, Hutchison Three Group, Etisala, KDDO, KT, MegaFor, Smart Telecommunications, SingTel, Sprint, Telefonica, Telecom Italia Group, Telenor, TMN, and Vimpel Com.

As of current writing, a few units have already been put up for sale. Samples of this new consumer OS were the ZTE Open and Alcatel One Touch. The company said that more devices will be announced within the year.

Tech experts noted the pace at which Mozilla operates. They said that the company has been extremely slow and aggressive, which they think will beneficial for carriers and other firms which attach themselves to the tech company.
