The personal computer business currently suffers from huge pressure brought about by iPad and android-based tablets. Intel and Microsoft's revenues decreased substantially. Analysts suggested that investors ought to reassess their investments with the said companies.

Microsoft's revenue climbed to US$19.8 billion from only US$18 billion for the fourth quarter. Microsoft did not release it revenues for Windows 8. However, according to a website that gathered information from users surfing the internet, NetMarketShare.com, only 5% of users installed Windows 8 on their computers. 37% were still using the outdated Windows XP while 44% still uses Windows 7.

Conversely, Intel was the PC industry's processor chips king. There were no new rivals in the race for PC processor chips but Intel's sale still declined. The latest earnings report of the company showed a plunge from US$13.5 billion to US$12.8 billion. Its net income decreased by 25% from US$2.8 billion to US$2.0 billion. Intel said that the nose dive was due to the decrease in volume sales and price for laptops and desktops.
