Tim Cook, the Apple CEO has announced on Monday introduction of iPhone 5S, the new iPhone SE in the Cupertino campus. The iPhone 5S offers smaller and cheaper option to the company's flagship iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. Cook has also introduced a new iPad Pro, new Watch Bands and some software updates at the same unveiling ceremony.

The new iPhone 5S looks alike a mix between the iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 generations of devices, taking the size and design of one and the latest specs and capabilities of the other. The Apple CEO has represented iPhone SE as the most powerful 4 inches smart phone ever, reports The Verge.

The iPhone SE has possibly been named after Macintosh SE computer released in 1987, possessing a similar form-factor to iPhone 5S released in 2013. Unlike most recent other iPhones, the iPhone SE has a metal body, 4 inches screen, Touch ID fingerprint scanner and a flash camera lens. The new iPhone will be available in four complexions- black, white, gold and rose gold, according to a report published in The Guardian.

The smaller iPhone poses appeal to fans of more portable devices. Apple has been able to sell 30 million phones sizing 4 inches and smaller. Meanwhile a larger segment of Apple customers have opined against upgrading the 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches smart phones, reports CNN Money.

The iPhone SE contains Apple's A9 processor, an NFC chip with support for Apple pay and a better 12-megapixel camera, in line with Apple's 2015 iPhones. Its processing power has been calculated as double while graphics performance as four times as well as longer battery life compared to other iPhone lines.

The Cupertino tech giant targets the huge potential market of the Apple's smaller iPhone users, yet to be upgraded to an iPhone 6 or newer. Inclusion of a 4.7 inches screen and larger battery supporting more apps again indicate popularity of the larger widescreen.

The iPhone SE is easier to cater for with software updates since it reduces the number of hardware variants Apple has to support. The new product will be released commercially on March 31 while preorder can be done from March 24.

The iPhone 5S with 16GB storage will cost $399 in the US and £359 in the UK. However, devices with 64GB storage have been priced for $499 in the US and £439 in the UK.

A larger portion of the Apple's smaller smart phone users are yet to be upgraded to an iPhone 6. Probably inspired with the fact, Apple has unveiled on Monday its new iPhone SE- the iPhone 5S. The product will be commercially available from March 31 while pre-orders can be made from March 24 and onwards.
