T-Mobile rolls out Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update on Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Note Edge

The carrier T-Mobile has confirmed on its website that the much-awaited Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update has already started rolling out to Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge, last y'ear's flagship phablets starting November 30

In preparation of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, this Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update could be the reason if why this has been sent out to the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge devices.   Reports from Samsung say that it will start the rollout early next year, though the recent handsets like the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 edge+ could be the set of focus first, reports Ubergizmo.

In April, the first Lollipop update for Galaxy Note 4, Android 5.0.1 has been released by T-Mobile. For this year, it's now being upgraded straight to Android 5.1.1. According to Tech times, the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge have been launched by Samsung at the IFA in September 2014. These two phablets had the pre-installed Android 4.4. KitKat when they arrived.

It has been seen in the T-Mobile support page that the latest software update for the Galaxy Note 4 software version will jump to N910TUVU2DOK2 or N910T3UVU1DOK2, while the Note Edge's software version to N915TUVU2COK2. New features and bug fixes will be handed over to the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge via the Android 5.1 Lollipop update.

In a separate report from Android Headlines, the update was stated to be available via OTA (Over the Air) to all users of the devices on T-Mobile including the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge. Nevertheless, this will also be available for download via Samsung Smart Switch or Samsung Kies software on computers.

The Android 5.1.1 rollout for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge has started on November 30th. This latest update will bring new features such as 'Advanced Messaging' and 'T-Mobile Video Calling' and more.
