Raytheon Wins New Electronic Jammer Contract

Raytheon announced that they won the US$279 million deal to develop a new electronic jammer for the US Navy. Analyst said that the deal could eventually be worth billions of dollars in the coming years.

Raytheon Co was able to beat former contractor Northrop Grumman Corp and other bidders for the deal.

The Pentagon announced that contract was for technology development for the Next Generation Jammer which will replace the existing ALQ-99 tactical jamming system currently used on the EA-18G Growler aircraft built by Boeing Co.

Raytheon Company is a major defense contractor and an industrial corporation. The core manufacturing of the company specializes in weapons and military and commercial electronics. Raytheon was established in 1922 and is the world's largest producer of guided missiles.

The company has over 72,000 employees worldwide with annual estimated revenues of US$25 billion. As of 2012, Raytheon is the fourth largest defense contractor in US based on its annual revenues.
