Telenor announced Stein Erik Vellan as the new CEO of Globul, Bulgaria's second largest mobile operator, with a 36% market share. The announcement was made after the EU Commission approved the acquisition.

Included in the transaction was Germanos Bulgaria, a leader in telecom retailing whose operations were integrated with Globul.

Regarding the new appointee, Telenor's Executive Vice President and Head of Region Europe, Kjell Morten Johnsen, stated, "We are pleased that Mr. Stein-Erik Vellan will become Globul's new CEO. I am confident that his experience as former CEO of Telenor Serbia and regional knowledge will benefit Globul in further developing the company's position as the country's second-largest mobile operator."

For his part, Vellan was "delighted to be offered the opportunity to head Globul, one of the leading telecom operators and recognized brands in Bulgaria". Vellan was Head of Mobile of Telenor Norway. His experience included being the head of Telenor Serbia during a crucial transitional phase of two and a half years. Afterwards, Vellan became the Managing Director of Uninor in India.
