Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will officially be receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow in the first quarter of 2016 following confirmation from the South Korean giant of its upgrade plans. The supersized phablet is bound for a bunch of new major features and greater controls, among many others.

Samsung has officially confirmed the Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the Galaxy Note 5 devices and is currently in development stage. The development stage is where Samsung incorporates its own update to Google's new build.

Testing stage will follow where the device manufacturer assesses the performance of the new Android software. If deemed successful, official release will commence according to a mobile carrier and/or location.

Although set for release in the first quarter of 2015, it was believed that Samsung might let out the Marshmallow software as soon as January. However, Samsung has not pointed it out either.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow software brings in new major features and greater controls. For many reviews and critics, Marshmallow is the best Android software in history.

Marshmallow's new features include battery saver called Doze and Now on Tap. It also has better volume controls and sharing.

The baffling volume controls have been put in places. With Do Not Disturb mode, it now has two approaches. First, the complete silence and priority allows only alarms sound by default, but can include reminders, calls, repeat callers and messages. It solely manipulates volumes with vibrate and/or silent at the lowest end.

Meanwhile, share content like photos, music, documents, etc. directly with contacts through messaging apps. Messaging apps like Telegram, Google Hangout, WhatsApp, Viber and Kakao Talk pop up only when hitting the share button.

Users always have the option which type of actions or links launch which apps. They will be able to see a list of links which they can rearrange in settings.

Other Galaxy smartphones slated to get the update includes Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5, among others.
