Samsung Galaxy S6 Will Receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update; Firmware Beta Version Now Ready For Testing

Samsung Electronics is one of the smartphone makers who promised to bring the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade to its handsets. The firmware beta version for the Samsung Galaxy S6 is reportedly available for testing. 

According to a report by International Business Times, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow over-the-air update is assumed to be rolled out to Samsung Galaxy S6 by the end of this year and will eventually be released to the Galaxy S5 and other devices from Galaxy series after. But then, it is worth knowing that the South Korean tech giant hasn't given any word yet about the release schedule of the firmware to its handsets. Furthermore, it was also reported that a beta version of Android 6.0 build for Galaxy S6 is already ready but it is still not known when it will be released for testing.

In addition, T-Mobile recently claimed on its support page that Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Tab S2 will also get Google's latest operating system. Apart from those devices, another report also cited that Samsung Galaxy Alpha, Samsung Galaxy A8, and Samsung Galaxy A7 will also get the OS upgrade.

Meanwhile, Yibada cited the improvements and enhancements that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow will bring. The newest operating system by Google will have an enhanced app permissions and will now support the Android Pay. The update also carries an improved phone dialer app and a power-saving feature called the Doze Mode. And lastly, it'll feature a developed Google Now on Tap.

Moreover, Neurogadget said on its report that Samsung has recently released the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to its devices. In other words, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update might take a longer time of roll out than expected since the Android Lollipop is slated to bring a fix for the Stagefright vulnerability.

Since the South Korean tech giant haven't committed any schedule of  Android 6.0 Marshmallow roll out for now, users of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and other above mentioned devices still has to wait for further announcements.
