Worldwide global information and communications tech firm Huawei Technologies said that they will be focusing on increasing its hold of the Malaysian market. According to Huawei Malaysia's head of consumer business Gary Xu, the company reached the third spot in the global smartphone market, and is aiming to do the same in the country.

"I believe we will be able to reach the number three position in the Malaysian market within three years. We are encouraged to see positive response from consumers," said Xu during the launch of Huawei's latest product in Kuala Lumpur.

Furthermore, the country head stated that Huawei Malaysia is committed in expanding their operations and branding efforts in the country. The launch of the Huawei Ascend P6 in Malaysia signified the company's plan to strengthen its local presence in the region, said Xu.

The competitive Malaysian market is not only a race among three companies. Lenovo Malaysia, Blackberry, and other brands are also trying to take a share of the market.
