Runeblade by Everywear Games is the most popular and addictive game on the Apple Watch. As the popularity of the smartwatch arises, it is seen to be the next hottest gaming platform.

Gaming startup Everwear Games launched Runeblade, its first smartwatch game, on the Apple Watch. International Business Times reported that Runeblade has become the most popular game on the smartwatch platform.

Aki Järvilehto, CEO and founder of Everywear Games, said that Runeblade provides the "most addictive" gaming experience on all kinds of devices. Statistics show that the top 2% of major players play the game for five to 15 seconds at every six minutes of a day.

Runeblade is a fantasy adventure RPG where players battle monsters with mystical spells. New storylines are presented every month for new content. Runeblade's popularity can be attributed to its freemium status like that of Clash of Clans. Runeblade can be downloaded and played for free while upgrades and other extra features can be purchased in-app.

Järvilehto wants to introduce Runeblade to other smartwatches besides the Apple Watch. Because of the increasing popularity of the smartwatch, it is seen as the next major gaming platform. The Inquirer reported that big gaming companies are making games that are compatible to smartwatches.

"This year marks the beginning of smartwatch gaming, but we're approaching the market with a long term view," mentioned Järvilehto. "Right now we are in pole position, but for us the important thing is to be the leader in this market when we have a hundred million devices out there. Devices which are part of the largest content ecosystem we have on the planet."

Everywear Games wants to concentrate on Apple Watch because it is seen as more popular than Android Wear gadgets. Aside from gaming, the Apple Watch also has the ability to monitor fitness and health with its built-in heart sensor. There are rumors that there will even be an Apple Watch 2, reported Venture Capital Post.

Since its launch, around seven million Apple Watches have been shipped worldwide. Other luxury smartwatch brands like TAG Heuer are also exploring the field of wearable tech by making their own line of smartwatches.
