Nissan Motor Co (7201.T) is recalling 55,000 vehicles in Japan over a glitch in the gasoline engine starter motor, the company said on Thursday.

The Chinese government on Thursday cleared the USD1.3 billion car-making joint venture between Dongfeng Motor Group and France's Renault. Under the deal, the two companies will manufacture 150,000 multi-purpose vehicles annually.

Renault SA, Nissan Motor Co and Mitsubishi Motors Corp expanded its existing joint venture to effective save production costs.

Japan-based Nissan Motor Co said it would be willing to work with Google and other firms to develop self-driving vehicle systems.
