OS X Yosemite to be released on October 22; More Features with iOS8 Include Seamless Connectivity, Instant Hotspot

Though Apple's latest desktop operating system, OS X Yosemite, won't be launched until fall, the company has already released last Monday, September 15, the third public beta version dubbed “14A361.” The latest software update was made available to registered developers who pay an annual fee to get advance access to Apple’s software updates and to registered Mac users running on OS X Mavericks. According to Christian Post, “Apple could release another public beta before it releases the final version of the OS, which will then be made available to all.” The report further adds that the release of a third beta is “an indication that Apple could be making some tweaks to the operating system before the release of the iOS 8.” What to Expect The iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite emphasizes on connectivity. According to Apple, expect iOS and Mac to be connected like never before. “With OS X Yosemite and iOS 8, your devices recognize when they’re near each other, enabling new features that let them work together” This improved device integration works in all apple products—Macs, iPhones, iPads, and most probably, the iWatch. Imagine receiving a call from your iPhone and it shows up in your Mac or Ipad. You can even answer the call right on your Mac, which acts like a speaker phone. It’s like your Mac and iPad becoming an extension of your iPhone either it be receiving calls, SMS, or MMS. Another new feature is the ability of creating an instant Hotspot for Mac through your iPhone connectivity. Christian Today also added that the new OS “will also feature a redesigned interface with several new applications such as the new Today view added to the Notification Center. In addition, Spotlight has been given an improved design interface and added functions like the capacity to sync with search engines like Bing and Wikipedia.” There are rumors that OS X Yosemite will be released on October 22, the same date that OS X Mavericks was released last year.
