More about the home of the king of the apes is set to be revealed in the upcoming Kong: Skull Island. Thomas Mann is currently in talks to join,  while John Goodman is confirmed to be the latest addition to the film's cast.

As reported by Variety, "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl" star Thomas Mann is currently in final negotiation to join the growing roster of cast for the film which will star Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston, and Samuel L. Jackson among many others.

Meanwhile, Deadline recently reported that "Argo" actor John Goodman was recently confirmed to be on board to play as Randa, a government official who will lead the expedition to the home of King Kong, Skull Island.

The film will center on the character to be played by Hiddleston who will be part of the group of adventurers who will go on an expedition inside the island where the giant ape resides only to eventually find out how treacherous it actually is. The film will serve as a prequel to the previous King Kong films released and will pay respect to the lore of King Kong but will also be set in a different period.

The film will be released by Legendary and Warner Bros, and according to We Got This Covered, it could kick start a universe where both giants from the two companies, King Kong and Godzilla respectively co-exist. With that being said, reports are persistent that a crossover might occur in the next couple of years hinting a possible appearance of the two giants together in the big screen.

Kong: Skull Island is set to be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts and screenplay by Max Borenstein, Derek Connolly, John Gatins, and Dan Gilroy. It is expected to hit theaters on March 10, 2017. More details are to be announced when production progress.
