The Sony Xperia M2 and M2 Aqua have now received the Android Lollipop 5.1 update. There are expected improvements and new features with these handsets once their operating system is already upgraded.

NDTV Gadgets recently reported that Sony has rolled out the Android 5.1 Lollipop update on Tuesday for its two smartphones - the Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 Aqua. As the Xperia M2 was launched with Android 4.3 KitKat out-of-the-box, it would be skipping the Android 4.4 KitKat and Android 5.0 Lollipop OS versions. Meanwhile, the Xperia M2 Aqua would also be bypassing the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS version as it was launched with Android 4.4 KitKat.

Furthermore, Android Community has stated that this change of operating system also brings enhancements to Xperia M2 and M2 Aqua. The interface of both handsets will have a fresh look and feel, as made possible by Material Design, Google's latest design guidelines. There will also be more options for customizations on alerts, silent modes, and volume. The update will also bring a new LinkedIn integration so you can easily sync information in your Calendar.

The Android 5.1 Lollipop will also bring SmartWear integration. The users can now use their Sony SmartWatch 3 as a remote shutter button for them to take selfie easily.

In addition, the Phones Review reported the Lollipop 5.1 update also includes a fix for the Stagefright vulnerability just like the ones they have done with the roll out of Android 5.1 for Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra, and Xperia Z1 Compact.

Although the Lollipop update has reached the Sony Xperia M2 and M2 Aqua, not all the users can get the upgrade all at once; some of them might have to wait as the process of upgrading is gradual. But then, upon updating, the users will experience the improvements that this Lollipop update carries.
