Executive search firm, Egon Zehnder was hired by Infosys to conduct a global mapping exercise. This was to identify and shortlist potential candidates who can be considered to become Infosys chief executive officer. This was according to two people who have knowledge with the said report.

The move indicates that a succession planning exercise has been taken by India's second biggest software exporter. On June 1, an unusual move was taken when the company recalled its co-founder, retired NR Narayana Murthy to lead the firm as its executive chairman for five years.

Egon Zehnder and Infosys refused to give statements regarding said report.

The current CEO of the company, SD Shibulal is scheduled to end by March 2015. This will make way for a non-founder to take up the top jon. Infosys was founded in 1981 by six engineers including Shibulal. So far, Infosys have only allowed co-founders to take the top position in the company.
