Samsung flagship devices Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S6, and Galaxy S6 Edge are moving over to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop starting June. The manufacturer guarantees that its latest phones and tablets this year will receive the Google Android M update after the official release expected in October.

In June, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop updates began to hit Android smartphones. Yibada reports that the updates came first in Europe specifically in Sweden, Italy, Austria, and other locations. International versions of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 were among the first Samsung devices to get the updates. Samsung KIES brings the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop updates to other regions including the US.

The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge were among the first Samsung phones to roll out the update as per International Business Times. It has been reported that Samsung is dedicated to make the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop updates available on all S6 and S6 Edge variants across the globe.

Meanwhile, network carrier Sprint has already rolled out Android 5.1.1 Lollipop updates for Galaxy Note 4 to its subscribers. The updates continue to trickle down to various international models of the said device.

Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is also expected to come to Galaxy Note Edge. Users of this device residing in Canada were among the frontline recipients of the updates.

Over-the-air (OTA) updates for Android 5.1.1 Lollipop are now on its way to major carriers like Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and US Cellular. The Android 5.1.1 promises to bring a patch to the Stagefright flaw, bug fixes, and other enhancements. Its build version is N910FXXU1COH4.

Gottabemobile describes the strategy used by Samsung in rolling out updates for its devices. It says that the South Korean manufacturer first launches an update for a particular device model in one region. Afterwards, the update down funnels to international variants of the said device in other places.

The official roll out of Android M is just waiting around the corner, probably around October or November as news reports say. The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge as well as Galaxy Note 4 will be the first Samsung devices in line for the next Android M update. Many Samsung users speculate that Android M might come later than expected considering the length of time it took to release Android 5.1.1 Lollipop updates to its devices.
