Independence Day: Resurgence Update: Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum believe in extraterrestrial; Filming is a wrap

Humanity will unite once again to defend itself from extinction in the upcoming Independence Day: Resurgence. The move has moved on to post-production stage after filming recently wrapped up. Cast members Jeff Goldblum, Vivica A. Fox, Judd Hirsch, and Liam Hemsworth also shared their views about the possibility of extraterrestrial life outside the solar system.

 As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Independence Day: Resurgence director Roland Emmerich  posted a photo of a double rainbow in his Instagram account officially announcing the conclusion of filming for the cast and crew. "and that's a wrap on @IDResurgance. Thank you Albuquerque, New Mexico, you've been amazing. @NewMexicoFilm @Newmexico" Emmerich captioned the photo.

It was previously revealed that the film will see the return of an old foe. As stated in its plot, after the events from the first film, nations of the Earth collaborated to create a defense system from the alien technology they recovered. However, the invaders eventually came back with a much bigger and badder technology leaving the fate of humanity on the hands few brave men and women.

Movie Web reported that fans will see the Moon Tug and an alien hybrid jet in the upcoming movie.  According to the report, Emmerich described the Moon Tug as a 'workhorse' and new member Liam Hemsworth's main vehicle in the film. While as for the alien hybrid jet, Emmerich has not revealed how the new technology looks like, however he said that "It has the same technology, anti-gravity engines."  

 Meanwhile, After astrophysicist Stephen Hawking's announcement that he's supporting a $100 million program which seeks to investigate extraterrestrial life beyond the solar system, the cast of the upcoming film, were asked whether they believe in other life outside of earth.

According to a report by Parade, all cast members (Jeff Goldblum, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, and Liam Hemsworth) revealed that they believe in extraterrestrial life while Jeff Goldblum even added that he has read books and watched shows pertaining to the subject.

Independence Day: Resurgence is a sequel to the hit 1996 film which was lead by Goldblum and Will Smith. Aside from Goldblum, Hirsch, and Fox, the sequel also sees the return of Bill Pullman, and Brent Spiner with Emmerich returning as the director. It is set to hit theaters on June 24, 2016.
