It was a big cut on the campaign of the new Transformers game.  Last June, before the official announcement of its release date in E3, screenshots of the yet unnamed Transformers game leaked out and were shown in PureXbox.

Recently, a new set of screenshots had been issued by Activision, as picked up by TFW 2005.  In his statement, Game Director Kenji Saito stressed that the outline sketches were designed with an '80s cartoon or anime feel.  One area they paid attention to was the robots' fingers, which are much rounder.

The design they ended up on when it came to Optimus Prime gave the robot broader shoulders and a well-defined upper body.  The changes were inspired mostly from Western cartoons and toys.

The game is said to be a reboot to the relatively unsuccessful previous Transformers titles that were released following Michael Bay's arsenal of Transformers movies.  The new set of screenshots show some of the Autobots in action and while they're in vehicular-mode.

On the other hand, this Transformers series will run at a stable 60 frames-per-second on PC and new-gen platforms, as revealed in VG 24/7.  As for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, producer Robert Conkey confirmed that it may dip below that range.  For PS4 and Xbox One versions, these will both run at 1080p; while for older-gen, targeting at 720p.

A report from Forbes observed that this Transformers game doesn't look to have a huge budget to boast of, but that is something new and to be content about.  Because of its "judicious mix of cel shading and what looks to be quite straightforward combat mechanics and level scripting, this may be one of the better Transformers games in recent years.

Transformers: Devastation will be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC in October
