Samsung and Apple are known in the technology world as bitter rivals, the Tyson and Holyfield of the smartphone industry if you may. But long before the war between the phablet, the iPad Mini 4 and Samsung GalaxyTab S2, might open the battlefield for them.

The two giants were already expected to clash on the coming months due to release of their flagship phablets, but long before it happens, the two are in for another showdown, this time with their tablets, Bidness Etc. reported.

Since the boom of the phablet, the tablet has been in the backburner but in order to raise the interest of the general public for the device, Apple and Samsung will be releasing their newest tablet babies in the future.

Apple is known to come up with something new whenever they are releasing a new device in the market, that being said, let us see what Apple will offer new for their looming iPad Mini 4.

On the outside, according to Tech Crunch, the tablet will be smaller than the iPad Air 2. The website mentioned that it will be 6.1mm thick, which is exactly the same as the iPad Air 2. But to make it thinner than the Air 2, Apple is rumored to use the fully laminated display, to achieve the look.

Under the hood, since Apple is known, as much as possible, not to duplicate old features, the iPad Mini 4 will have an updated processor and will have more storage then iPad Air 2's A8X chip and 2GB RAM.

With regards to the device's release date, although it was rumored to be released sometime before the iPhone 6s, the trend says otherwise. Rumors say that most likely it will be released on September 9th.

Moving on the Samsung's Galaxy Tab S2, rumors says that it will come in two sizes, the 8inch, and the 9.7inch variant. Both tablets will feature a 4:3 aspect ratio 2048×1536 SAMOLED display as well as an LTE and Wi-Fi-only configurations.

Under its hood, it will be powered by an Exynos 5433 Octa core SoC, 3GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB of onboard storage, and an 8-megapixel rear, 2.1-megapixel front camera set-up, without flash, Christian Post published.

With regards to its release, the website cited that it is rumored to be launched on August 21st around $399 to $499, to compete with Apple's upcoming tablet.

However, although the iPad Mini 4 and Galaxy Tab S2 looks dashing and promising, the biggest concern would be its performance, in the sales department, knowing that these two will be pitted against their own phablets.
