'Divergent: Allegiant' may heat things up in a more mature audience-targeted two-part finale as Shailene Woodley and Theo James will reportedly engage in more intimate scenes on-screen. The co-stars also reacted to author Veronica Roth's controversial series ending.

In an article by Fashion N' Style, James who plays Tobias 'Four' Eaton revealed that the upcoming film will take on a more mature tone for more sophisticated audiences in comparison to the previous ones he'd done with Woodley who plays his love interest Beatrice 'Tris' Prior.

He also admitted that he and Woodley had developed a closer friendship after working with her on the successful big-screen adaptations of the young adult novels of the same name. The article also stated that the lead characters will be having more intimate scenes together.

According to Movie News Guide, Woodley and James had their own thoughts on the series' controversial completion. Woodley admitted in an interview with Digital Spy that Roth may have chosen a direction that was all the best for her character Tris.

She said, "I think that it's a beautiful decision that Veronica made. I mean, how often is it that somebody you really admire and who does take selfless risks everyday ends up living." James echoed her sentiments saying that the natural end would be more admirable and reflective of self-sacrifice on the part of the heroine.

Some fans acted on their distress of Roth's way of concluding the 'Divergent' trilogy by putting up a petition for a change in the screenplay in hopes of seeing more optimistic depictions on the big screen. Roth stood strong on her decision in a previous article in Vulture.

She said, "I wrote 'Allegiant' that way because I thought that was the way it needed to be told, and so I feel very strongly about it, obviously. I know people feel strongly about it, too, and that's fine.

They're allowed to feel however they want about it. I haven't yet seen how they're going to end it. But I don't think they'll do two endings." She admitted to discussing this with Woodley and the actress was reported to agree with the ending as well.

'Divergent: Allegiant' is the final installment of the science-fiction film series set against a dystopian world and will be split into two parts. The first is scheduled to premiere on March 18, 2016 while the second half will be released on March 24, 2017.
