Google will update Nexus 5, 6, and 9 to the new Android OS once its build assessment phase is done. The company has no confirmation on what day in October the new update will take effect. Users will be notified with an OTA when the new update becomes available along with its improved features. Beside the release date and improved features is the name of the new OS which is Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Android Marshmallow will introduce improved features for applications. According to NeuroGadget, the new version will offer application permissions system in which users will be asked for permissions if the application is being accessed. It will also give information about the contents of the application through Google Now On Tap.

Moreover, applications can be backed up to Google Drive every 24 hours with 25 MB cap per application. This feature is reliable when doing a master reset on a device because it gives an option to recall the saved applications.

According to Christian Post, Android 6.0 Marshmallow will have the ability to use SD cards as internal storage. It will also show applications that have consumed the phone's free space. In this way, users can have the ability to manage their phone memory wisely.

It was also mentioned in the related report that the new version will include Direct Share. This feature has the ability to put the user's favourite contacts on top of the share window. It will be easier to share files in this way.

Another feature is the Quick Settings tiles which can be customized. It will give an ability to remove, add, and move icons. These icons include alarm, Wifi, Bluetooth, Airplane mode, hotspot, and the like. It was also reported that the battery of the Android phone will be improved through Doze.

The aforementioned features are the things that a Nexus user can maximize once Android 6.0 Marshmallow becomes fully available in the public.
