New relationships are brewing for the seventh season of "The Vampire Diaries" dropping this October. The exit of Nina Dobrev's Elena will pave the way for new relationships to develop and for the old ones to grow.

Executive producer Julie Plec sat down with TVLine during the Television Critics Association summer press tour and spilled some interesting facts about the upcoming season of the hit CW series.

Plec mostly teased about the relationships that will be developed next season. According to her, Damon will cope with Elena's "death" with "drinking, as always" but he will be accompanied by Alaric while Bonnie will be their uninvited chaperone. Plec said that Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham's characters have so much unspoken between them.

She added, "Watching them air it out together is actually really nice. We'll continue to watch their friendship build, because they really do owe each other a lot."

Bonnie will also meet a new love interest in the new season, which will be "a little surprising" for the fans of the supernatural series but will make sense eventually, teased Plec. She also revealed that Matt, played by Zach Roerig, also gets another love interest, which will also surprise the fans. Is it possible that Matt and Bonnie's friendship will take a romantic turn in season 7?

During Plec's interview with Deadline, she also dished about the relationship between the new villains of "The Vampire Diaries."

The three new nasty girls will be coming from 19th and 20th century and the two of them, Mary Louise, played by Teressa Liane, and Nora, played by Scarlett Byrne, have kept their relationship in secret. But since they will be in "a more expecting time," they can now freely show their affection to each other.

The new season of "The Vampire Diaries" can now focus on the other characters and develop new relationships after Nina Dobrev's exit. Exciting things are ahead for the fans of the hit supernatural series, returning this October 8 on CW.
