Earlier this year, it was rumored that Apple will release 3 flagship iPhones but it stayed a rumor since the confirmation of iPhone 6s and 6s Plus' release is said to be in October. However, the news was revived and is making waves again that Apple will release 3 iPhones in 2016.

In addition to the rumored 3 iPhones in 2016, the first of the three iPhones was also reported to be released in early 2016, noted Yahoo and the rumored phone is the iPhone 5s' predecessor. If this rumor will materialize, it will be Apple's first 4-inch phone since 2013.

The buzz also said that the phone will be called the iPhone 6c which will be fitted with a FinFET chipset, a product of Samsung and TSMC. BGR seconded the rumored 3 iPhones in 2016 and pointed out that the only drawback of the 4 inched iPhone 6c is that, probably, it will be released by the second quarter of next year, which is off with Apple's usual iPhone release dates.

This rumor actually killed the argument that Apple has abandoned the 4-inch screen iPhones since the launch of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, GizmoBurn reported. The tech website also noted that the FinFET chipset will also be used in the incoming iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, which Samsung and TSMC have been mass producing since the agreement was consummated.

Originally, Apple planned to use the 20nm chips but the larger chip will be consuming more power which deviates from Apple's drive to have a more reliable phone. Luckily, the architect was able to tweak into a smaller 14/16 without sacrificing its potency. With this size, the chipset can still perform like the 20nm chip but will consume a lesser power, which is the reason why the FinFET will now run the upcoming Apple flagship iPhones.

Apple wanted to release 3 iPhones this year but due to iPhones 6's success in the market, they have decided to abandon the idea and stick with the phablet fever that made them very successful and rich this 2015.
