Microsoft Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL leak reveals Windows 10, Infrared based Iris scanner features; September release plausible

Microsoft is gearing up to release two new handsets, the Lumia 950 (codenamed Talkman) and the Lumia 950 XL (codenamed Cityman) in September. The two devices run on Windows 10, and equipped with an iris scanner.

The Lumia 950 (codenamed Talkman) leak reveals 5.2-inch (2560 x 1440) WQHD OLED display and a hexa-core oQualcomm Snapdragon 808 64-bit processor. Moreover, a 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory which can be expanded via microSD card was also included on this Lumia handset. As mentioned above, it will run on Windows 10 out of the box.

As for its camera, Talkman will reportedly sport a 20-megapixel PureView rear camera, and a 5-megapixel wide-angle front facing camera. The handset also boasts a 3,000mAh removable battery, and a USB Type C charging together with Qi wireless charging with flip.

Whereas, the other Microsoft smartphone Lumia 950 XL is claimed to have  a 5.7-inch (2560 x 1440) WQHD OLED display, and an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit processor.  The handset was also said of coming with 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory that can be expanded via microSD card. As mentioned above, it will run as well on Windows 10 out of the box.

In terms  of its camera, 950 XL (codenamed Cityman  will reportedly  offer a 20-megapixel PureView rear camera with triple LED flash, and 5-megapixel wide-angle front facing camera. The handset was also reported of packing 3,300mAh removable battery, USB Type C charging and Qi wireless charging.

According to BGR, The Lumia 950XL was reported to feature a stylus from Microsoft's Surface tablets, Windows Central reports.

Both Lumia 950 and 950 XL leak indicated an Infrared based Iris scanner that is mandated for Windows Hello feature to work. In addition, Iris scanner will allow users unlock the phones with a scan of their face.

A Matte White and Black polycarbonate body are expected to come for both Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. The two devices are expected to launch in September at IFA Berlin. The Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has confirmed to employees that using of Lumia 950 will start in the coming weeks, ZDNet's Mary Jo Foley reports.
